The Makueni Hospitality Association is in the process of being established as part of a broader initiative by Makueni County's tourism directorate to create a Tourism Association.
This association aims to unite hospitality and tourism stakeholders in the county to enhance advocacy, networking, marketing, and information sharing, positioning Makueni as a top tourist destination.
An interim committee has been formed to oversee the registration and membership recruitment process, modeled after the Kenya Coast Tourism Association. The initiative is supported by county officials and industry players, including the Kenya Tourism Board and the Tourism Regulatory Authority.
The association will likely encompass various hospitality facilities in Makueni, which include numerous hotels, guest houses, and lodges spread across Wote township, Makindu, Kibwezi, and other areas, providing a range of accommodation options for tourist.
This development aligns with Makueni County's broader strategy to promote tourism and cultural heritage, leveraging indigenous knowledge and community-based tourism to boost economic growth and preserve cultural identity.
